Test Your System

We are very excited you are interested in hearing and seeing Mafu live via the internet.

This test, part tutorial and part test, will assist you in preparing your computer so that you have a simple and successful online experience.  Please test your system well in advance of registering for a darshan.

The following software is required:

  • Windows 98 SE, 2000, XP or Vista (Mac not available at this time)
  • Internet Explorer version 5 or later
  • Windows Media Player Series 9, 10 or later
If you need help in determining if you have the proper software versions or if you need help in acquiring them, click here for more information.

You will have the option to receive either an audio only stream (26 kbps) or a video stream (200 kbps) of Mafu's live darshans.  The audio only option is designed for those with good dial-up internet connections that are capable of receiving at a sustained rate of 26 kbps.  The video option  is intended for those with broadband connections (cable, DSL, T1, Satellite) that can receive at a sustained rate of 200 kbps.

Later in this test you will have the opportunity to play a 26 kbps or 200 kbps stream that will be equivalent to what you would receive during a live darshan. It will be important to play the file completely and to take note of whether your media player pauses to refill its buffer (buffering).

Buffering is an indication that your internet connection is not fast enough to receive the stream.  If you are playing the 200 kbps video stream and you encounter buffering, you will probably be better off playing the 26 kbps audio only stream.  If you are playing the 26 kbps stream and you encounter buffering your best option will be to upgrade to a broadband connection.
